Description
This is the first Chan Marshall covers LP - 'The Covers Record'
Released in March 2000 on the Matador label (OLE 426-1) and very limited in vinyl (this is the original Matador pressing and not the Virgin reissue)
Track listing:
Side A: 1. (I can't get no) satisfaction; 2. Kingsport Town; 3. Troubled waters; 4. Naked if i want to; 5. Sweedeedee; 6. In this hole
Side B: 1. I found a reason; 2. Wild is the wind; 3. Red apples; 4. Paths of victory; 5. Salty dog; 6. Sea of love
This LP has been owned since new and is in Nr MINT condition throughout. The cover is wonderful and shows no ring wear, creasing or tearing of any kind (there is a very small spot of discolouration to the bottom edge - absolutely minimal, almost invisible). All corners are sharp, the spine is unmarked, the colours are as new. This is in practically shop bought condition. The vinyl is pin sharp and plays without skips or hiss. There are a couple of very vague surface marks on side B - but these are in the pressing and do NOT alter play back at all. If you had picked this up new yesterday in a shop - you would be very happy with it.
Long deleted (unavaiable on Gemm, Music Stack and EIL) and very rare. If that wasn't enough - this is a beautiful, beautiful album and one that easily stands up to Jukebox. Chan's chorus-free version of Satisfaction is still incredible to sit through - and add to that covers of Dylan, Lou Reed, Billie Holliday and Bill Callahan - and you have an incredible LP
