Description
For sale is Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica, the first pressing from 1969 on Frank Zappa's Straight Records. This is a gate-fold presentation. The paper insert is missing. This is the rarer version of the record with both pink Straight labels numbered STS 1053 just like the cover's number on the upper right hand side of the front cover. Later copies had the record labels with a different number (2MS 2027). On the inside cover of the gate-fold is a song listed as "Moonlight on Vermont", while the label lists it as "Moonlight in Vermont". This is a very rare record and will be a great addition to anyone's collection.
Cardboard is crisp, even the opening edges. Colors are vivid, almost looks new. One original sleeve has a tear as seen in pictures. Vinyl is shiny and has been played very little. I see no scratches or wear under direct sunlight—looks basically brand new. I've never seen a copy of this record this clean. Really a beautiful example of the earliest pressing I'm aware of.
