While Lee Roy Abernathy was learning to play the piano like one of the ’’VAUGHAN HAPPY TWO” . . . Shorty Bradford was learning to sing four parts like the other member of the famous ’’VAUGHAN HAPPY TWO.” Just to set your mind at ease . . . they were A. B. Sebren, writer of the song ’’Rocking On The Waves” . . on this recording . . . and . . . Cully Wilson. He was without a doubt the easiest singer I ever knew until ’’SHORTY” Bradford. Since GOSPEL CONCERTS are PAID ADMISSION and the public does not expect to PAY FOR RELIGION . . . ’’THE HAPPY TWO” have been the number one entertainers in the field for 35 years . . . with the ex- ception of a few years when’’Shorty” was stricken with arthritis . . which made it next to impossible to travel. This is their FIRST album and was taken from many personal ap- .pearances. As you will probably anticipate . . ’’Shorty Bradford” is the man with FOUR DISTINCT VOICES. A prize of $500.00 was made as a standing offer on television for five years to any one who could SING a note higher and lower than Shorty could. He has never been challenged, per- haps it is because of his Five Octave Range . . and even better. Lee Roy Abernathy chose Canton, Georgia for his home . . and. . has made it known from coast to coast in the GOSPEL work. Lee Roy has taught many of today’s professional singers . . . and pianists as well. He is the sole author of the worlds only’’MODERN GOSPEL PIANO COURSE BY MAIL.” His ability to play . . sing both high and low makes the ’’HAPPY TWO” so versatile that many excuses are found to keep them off the program. However . . . they do not think of MUSIC as a competitive thing . . . but as a clean means of introducing the REAL MEANING of ’’SPIRITUAL SALVATION. ” After traveling over Three Million Miles ... in 35 years on the road I asked Mr. Abernathy (he likes to be called Lee Roy) how he arriv- ed at the word entertainment . . . instead of Gospel. His answer struck me good. He answered, ’’When I was saved ... I gave up all the things I was sorry for ... all the things that I carried a long face about . . . all the things that made me sorry for myself . . and became whatever I am. A musician . . .. an entertainer ... or a teacher . . . but none of these things interfere with my sincere desire to make people happy. SAD SONGS ARE THE GREATEST DETRIMENT TO EVER ENTER THE GOSPEL FIELD. Sing No Sad Songs For Me.” These things are printed here for you to mull over, forget or consider. In closing . . ’’GOSPEL” meaning Good News . . . means a good time in the Lord. The dead giveaway on a would be backslider . . is his desire to impress the world that he is a Christian . . . when right the op- posite is necessary. A Christian quickly recognizes another . . so . . sing and be happy . . or cry and be sad . . you alone can decide this . . after knowing CHRIST as your ’’PERSONAL SAVIOUR. ” Shorty said for you to not look for quality . . as these were made on stage . . however, he said . . they would not have been any better in a studio . . this is us. .we’re happy . . and we hope you’re’’HAPPY TWO. ” Rev. John C. Hamrick
