Description
The Cannonball Adderley Quintet - Them Dirty Blues, 1961 Riverside RLP1170 stereo copy in a mono catno jacket!?
Taken from my fathers old collection this is something of a mongrel gem... as by the pictures its a very early UK stereo pressing as per runouts:
Side 1 - RLP 12-1170A
Side 2 - RLP 12-1170B
But the jacket here is from an equally early mono press as shown. I am not able to ask dad how this came to be! I do know its been crate stored since at least 1983 and unseen til today.
Vinyl - in excellent condition with only minor hairlines under torchlight. Surface needs a wash clean however but once done will be close to NM and i would expect to play fantastic. Appears perfectly flat. Labels are clean with a little spindle marking.
Jacket - also in excellent shape for a nr 60yr old record albeit not the stereo labelled one as it should be. What its is though is devoid of seem or spine splits, devoid of crush to any area and feeling sturdy to last. Even the laminate front is still holding up well! The inner sleeve is a simple poly affair which i think is original... the Riverside jackets (from my experience with old Bill Evans releases) seem to often feature these and are too narrow for a typical paper sleeve to not end up poking out a little!
A rare record in potentially close to NM condition albeit with an unexplained jacket switch even Discogs doesnt help much to value but based on whats selling there now ive priced this based on the unique condition and history and still think this is a real find for a fan/collector.
Thanks for looking.
