Holy Grail of Beatnik Beat Generation Albums. You may never see this again for sale. One of the most radically enhanced freakouts that you can throttle your gray matter with.
The Cafe Bizarre at 106 West 3rd Street was one of the early folk clubs in the Village, opened by Rick Allmen in 1957. The opening night headliner was Odetta. Over time it morphed from hosting top jazz acts and Beat poetry readings (Kerouac, Ginsberg and everyone else in their circle had readings there at one point or another) to rock and roll; it was here in 1965 that Andy Warhol first saw the house band, the Velvet Underground. Andy immediately declared that he was their manager, and off they went to make history. The building had a history too. It was one of Aaron Burr's old stables. Of course, despite everything, NYU decided it needed a new law school dorm and razed most of the street to build one in 1984.
