YOU HAVE FINALLY FOUND THE ONE YOU WANT!
PLEASE!
READ THE WHOLE LISTING!
For those of you who don't know about the "hit song", (Side A) on this INCREDIBLY RARE TREASURE:
"Minnie the Moocher" is a jazz song first recorded in 1931 by Cab Calloway and His Orchestra, selling over a million copies.[1] "Minnie the Moocher" is most famous for its nonsensical ad libbed ("scat") lyrics (for example, "Hi De Hi De Hi De Ho"). In performances, Calloway would have the audience and the band members participate by repeating each scat phrase in a form of call and response, until making it too fast and complicated for the audience to replicate it.
Released by Brunswick Records, the song was the biggest chart-topper of 1931. In 1978, Calloway recorded a disco version of "Minnie the Moocher" on RCA Records which reached #91 on the Billboard R&B chart.
"Minnie the Moocher" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, and in 2019 was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress. It has been argued that the record was the first jazz record to sell a million copies.
The example offered in this auction is the 7" (same size as a 45 RPM record) 78 RPM version of this legendary recording by an even more legendary artist.
Now, before you say,
"How "rare" can it be? I see others available for sale!"......
LOOK AT THE CONDITION!!!
YES, there are "others" for sale.
YES, there are others "cheaper".
But as EVERY serious collector knows,
CONDITION IS EVERYTHING!!!
I looked for YEARS and YEARS and YEARS before finding this record in THIS condition!!!!
I owned MANY examples!
(it's an AWESOME tune!)
BUT,
Like EVERY serious collector,
I was ALWAYS looking to "upgrade".
I was ALWAYS looking for that "Holy Grail"!
The one that looked as perfect
as a 65 year old vinyl record could be expected to look!
The one that played as sweetly as a 65 year old 78 RPM
(you guys know what I'm talking about!) could play!
FINALLY!
FINALLY, after decades of looking,
I FOUND THIS!!
I've held many examples in my hands and looked at even more on-line.
NEVER did I see one, or heard one, that matched THIS!
You guys know how it is when you go on a quest for a "special" record.
You'll travel for it.
You'll trade for it.
You'll wash dishes in the Diner
and shovel snow off your neighbor's long driveway for it!
You know what I mean.
YOU GOTTA HAVE IT,
NO MATTER WHAT!!!
THAT is the quality of this example!!!
LOOK AT THE PICS!!
It looks AMAZING!
And SOUNDS even better!!!
Now admittedly, because I am a serious collector,
I only played it three times.
Once when it was offered to me at the time of purchase to insure it's playability.
Once when I got home and played it for a fellow collector so I could gloat about my find!
(He immediately offered me 3X what I paid for it,
which at the time was actually a LOT,
and I laughed till I cried,
which made him really, REALLY mad at me!)
And finally, to record it to a hard drive so I could experience it again and again without risking any wear and tear to the record itself.
After making the digital copy
(and no, it's not the same, at all, as buying a digital copy! You guys know the feeling of listening to your very own record, and the thrill you get from listening to a nearly pristine example of one so vintage! By recording that awesome example, you can "re-live" that feeling as many times as you like and preserve the "original"!)
I then put it into climate-controlled storage where it has remained ever since,
right in the original period-correct sleeve it was in when I bought it.
Well.....all of this happened years ago.
The time has come for me to liquidate most of my collection.
I am downsizing to a smaller home and only keeping a very tiny fraction of my collection.
That means even some of "the best of the best", like this one, has to go.
Sadly my collector friend has passed, or I would have gifted it to him.
SO YOU CAN OWN IT!!!
I am listing it at a CRAZY LOW "Buy It Now" price!
AND,
I am willing to consider FAIR and REALISTIC offers!
No matter what you pay,
I WILL SHIP FREE ANYWHERE IN THE LOWER 48 STATES!
YES!
Unlike most other record sellers who charge $5.00 per record and MORE to ship,
Here?

So please take a look at the pictures and judge for yourself what it's worth to you.
Ask yourself...."when will I ever find one like this again??"
