Cypress Hill's self-titled debut remains a landmark in hip-hop so it makes a welcome reissue return. It's raw, uncompromising and instantly distinctive sound that emerged from the shadows of the underground and delivered a sound that was gritty yet darkly playful, all driven by DJ Muggs' fuzzed-out, rock-hard beats and B-Real's unmistakable high-pitched flow. Sen Dog's gruff intensity injected menace while the later addition of Eric Bobo elevated their live power. Tracks like 'The Phuncky Feel One' and 'Stoned Is The Way Of The Walk' announced a new voice in rap: streetwise, surreal and fearless. Soon after release, it went double platinum and cemented Cypress Hill as pioneers and icons.
