CYNDI LAUPER "True Colors" with 3:46 timing and dated 7/18/86. This is a very rare STERLING SOUND MASTERING STUDIOS U.S.A....LACQUER, ACETATE, DUB PLATE. I have not made a detailed comparison to the released version so I cannot comment on similarities or differences between this and the released version. The timing of this mastering lacquer does match the released timing for this song HOWEVER...the same timing as the released version still does NOT mean it is the same. I happen to have knowledge that at least (3) versions for the track "True Colors" were cut at Sterling Sound and all had the same timing!!!!. Additionally, please read below about the uniqueness of lacquers/acetates.This is an Ultra-rare 1-sided 10" lacquer/acetate. This was cut by the Sterling Sound STUDIOS and is a MASTERING ACETATE (see description below on acetates). The track is as follows: "True Colors" with timing indicated at 3:46. Only a few of these discs would have been produced. This is in Excellent condition with nice shiny surfaces. There are a few light surface marks but nothing significant. I am VERY particular (check my feedback) and this is not like many of the trashed acetates you see for sale that are dull in finish from having been played like a record over and over. This is also guaranteed to be authentic and not one of the many "fakes" being produced in Texas and elsewhere and sold on Ebay these days. I have stored this disc out of the light in a protective sleeve and in a smoke-free environment. Each acetate which is produced is unique (see comments on acetates below). Don't miss out on this rare opportunity to obtain an amazing acetate.

Description excerpt below taken from the book "Rare Rock A Collectors Guide" by Tony Rees
"Acetates: Aluminum discs of various sizes (7, 10 or 12 inch) with a thin coating of shellac or vinyl. These discs are not pressed like regular vinyl issues. Instead, they are INDIVIDUALLY cut by the master cutter as a "pre" test pressing to give directions as to how the final cut should go. As such, EACH acetate is unique, and acetates constitute some of the rarest items in the whole field of record collecting."

"Acetate/Lacquer Is usually a reference cut that is made on ultra high-grad methyl cellulose sprayed onto thick aluminum discs. Reference acetates are primarily to make certain the record will sound somewhat like the tape. Often they are also made to allow a club or radio disc-jockey to play the music on turntables before it has been pressed as a normal record. Acetate is a misnomer (but frequently used!). It is actually a Lacquer."
