Description

CY COLEMAN - Music from the 1967 FORD INTRODUCTION SHOW "EXCITEMENT USA" - with lyrics by ED BIRNBRYER.   Cy Coleman certainly believed in keeping busy, as did Charles Strouse and others of equal stature. I suppose that it in the 1960's when these two exceptional creative talents were evolving as Broadway. there was no way of knowing their futures would hold annuities such as 'ANNIE' and 'SWEET CHARITY' to name but two, so they more of less 'kept their day job'. Charles Strouse, in his recent book, as much as said so.   I always felt that Coleman in particular was a tap of song and music....and that it was virtually impossible for him to turn it off. Maybe I was right. (Yes, I know SWEET CHARITY had opened by 1967, but few foresaw the kind of revival pattern that would emerge in the latter part of the last Century).   In any event, he not only did these Industrial Shows (they paid well!) but encouraged young up and comers to do the same. He felt they were great training grounds, and so, one supposes, did all the young actors who put the food on their tables by working the "industrials".   There are no song titles here, and no credits beyond Cy and Ed and narrator Dick, whose last name I cannot make out.   The record has been played, but the vinyl is in excellent shape....clean, shiny surfaces with no scratches. Cover shows wear, especially around the seams, and with a crease bottom right. Back of cover is plain, and somewhat discoloured with time.   SHIPPING COST:        U.S.A. / ONTARIO / QUEBEC  $8.00                            INTERNATIONAL               $16.00                            REST OF CANADA VARIES BY PROVINCE (TBA)
