CUBY & THE BLIZZARDS
Live!
Philips, Stereo 6440 091, Pressed in Holland, Orig Pressing
Cuby & The Blizzards came out of the flourishing Dutch garage/beat/punk scene circa 1966 and were much different from the other bands, being rooted deeply in blues rock. They quickly gained a foothold and a strong following that swept all over the U.K. & Europe. Cuby & The Blizzards played a searing smokey blues rock with intense feeling. Basically a guitar keys bass drums & vocalist structure, Though the rough but compelling vocal style of Harry Muskee is solid and even terrific, it was guitarist Elco Gelling who was the remarkable star of the band with his dynamic soloing, so good that John Mayall asked Elco to join The Bluesbreakers (Elco declined); quite a compliment when remembering the likes of Eric Clapton, Peter Green type qualifications Mayall was used to.
This 1968 LIVE IN GERMANY Lp presents CUBY & THE BLIZZARDS at the peak of their long career and represents a "killer" intense blues~rock showcase, that burns....
