Label Conditions: Two superb labels that are fresh and ultra clean. Any of the very few spindle marks are super fine and faint. No fingermarks to the ruthlessly revealing black surfaces, once applied, they are very hard to remove, both look hardly touched. An exceptional example of this album that should please even the most discerning collectors.

Brief Artist & Album Info: Arguably their finest ever album, but all their early records are excellent. Always so very distinctive for style and sound with one of the finest vocalists from this period, John Fogerty, he rarely sounded better than on this wonderful issue. The very first song, the lengthy ‘Ramble Tamble’ gets the album off to a spectacular start, CCR almost get heavy and this song has the most wonderful riff that even Black Sabbath might have been proud of, a repetitive chord sequence that builds and then the lead guitar kicks in and then it’s sheer nirvana. Also included are the magnificent ‘Up Around the Bend’ and ‘Who’ll Stop the Rain’, always sounding so much better on the ‘original’ album rather than compilations and the penultimate tour de force, the long version of ‘I Heard it Through the Grapevine’ clocking in at over 11 minutes. What an absolute classic this album is and hearing a copy that plays perfectly is the icing on what’s already a very rich cake. If your collection is missing this gem, don’t lose this absolutely supreme copy.

Cover Grade and Format: Mint(-) a single format with a laminated front, this wraps around all the closed edges and ends on the back via the spine. Printed and made in England by Upton.

Lamination & Front: Apart from four of five ultra fine and faint hairline spine edge creases that few will ever escape as a bare minimum, this front is near perfect and looks fantastic. The laminate ultra clean, fresh and clear with lovely shine. Just one fine and hardly visible small crease away from the edges and few will match of better this. Even under light, barely even a hint of any friction rubs or dulling with no lifting or chipping to the fine exposed strip on the right. Little short of connoisseur standard.

Cover Back: Even harder to find in top conditions and this again looks incredible, again little short of as made. One super-fine hint of a surface crease near the centre, but look hard and practically nothing else to fault. No rubbing, ringwear and rich, unfaded colour, again fresh with a perfect laminate end line. Overall both front and back are exceptional.

Top Edge & Bottom Edges: Both unworn, straight and very neat.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, very sharp with no wear at all and guaranteed untrimmed. Record enters on this edge.

Spine and Text: Practically Mint as made: solid, straight, clean and unaged with barely any hint of compression. All text is perfect and unworn under the solid and uncracked laminate.

Corners: All in superb shape with lovely sharp pointed definition retained. Any tiny rub or crease traces barely register and few will better these significantly.

Cover Summary: A more than memorable cover, one protected from new and barely even handled. Few will remain as fine as this these days. This beautiful item should please most-all collectors.

The Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT(+): this being very critical. The Liberty inner sleeve promotes the budget ‘Sunset’ issues and the full price albums on the original label. These include this album and it’s follow-up ‘Pendulum’. This has darkened a little with age, but actually enhances it (in my opinion). Hardly any creasing and all edges unsplit with no repairs. A minuscule nick on the front top opening edge but this still very neat and crisp. These were not lined and the rear has flipback construction. A lovely inner that like the rest of the set, will prove very difficult to find better.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT(++): a very impressive visual copy that is very clean, shiny, intense black and very solidly pressed. A copy hardly even played with any surface traces ultra fine, few and faint as seen with utmost scrutiny under bright angled light. Few available copies will match or better this and again it should please most-all collectors.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or miniscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This high quality, still very early pressed Liberty record plays even above it’s high visual grading with practically nothing to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Beautiful clean audio quality with no pops or clicks noted and this is an exceptional clean pressing. Clearly a record that avoided any mistreatment or abuse from its early days, simply because it was hardly played. Few copies will be seen like it and less still will match or outperform it. Not just well looked after, more like forgotten. Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this wonderful record, a true classic in it’s own right. This copy will prove immensely difficult to find better and can be strongly recommended.

The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT Mailers, these do not offer any real protection). The record(s) are REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. The boxes are then reinforced with at least TWO, ULTRA THICK stiffeners for maximum extra protection – these are FOUR TIMES thicker than commercial stiffeners and are custom-made for oneadayrecords. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
