From Atco Records (SD 33-232) this is DISRAELI GEARS by CREAM, an original US pressing from 1967 still SEALED in factory shrink-wrap and in MINT condition. It is remarkable. Taken from a sealed factory carton of the "plum" label, it is the very first pressing released in the United States: November, 1967. Colors are bright and vibrant; corners are perfectly blocked with no flaws or blemishes whatsoever. No signs of aging, wear or abuse of any kind. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime find! If you're a fan of the 1960's as I am, you'll agree that this album along with Are You Experienced by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, represent the best music of the counterculture of that decade (and arguably Clapton's best work).
This is Cream's second album recorded May of 1967 at Atlantic Studios in New York, playing time 33:37. The following (regarding how the album got its name) is borrowed from Wikipedia: The title of the album is a mondegreen based on an inside joke. Eric Clapton had been thinking of buying a racing bicycle and was discussing it with Ginger Baker, when a roadie named Mick Turner commented, "it's got them Disraeli Gears", meaning to say "derailleur gears," but instead alluding to 19th Century British Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli. The band thought this was hilarious, and decided that it should be the title of their next album. Had it not been for Mick's turn of a phrase, the album would simply have been titled "Cream."
