Real Gone present a reissue of one of the finest albums from 90s alt-country totems Cowboy Junkies. The Canadian band went a bit further out on their sixth album, marking their first with no covers and a move closer to a more direct rock sound with less country influence than before. That said, there's still a pervading sense of open space on the album and that unmistakable twanging guitar tone, while a certain smoky languor hangs in the air to maintain the band's unique appeal. It's aged well, capturing a mood somewhere between the slow core sound of early Low and a mainstream, radio-ready mentality.
