FROM THE FLESH-POTS of HOLLYWOOD comes this saucy little item, from 1936, on the HOLLYWOOD HOT SHOTS label.  Adult party records, the kind which were NEVER advertised, the ones where you had to look the other way while purchasing, the ones the store clerk had to fetch from UNDER the counter, the records you scrupulously kept hidden from the wife and the kiddies - - well, these had to originate from SOMEWHERE, and what better place than Babylon, Sin City - - HOLLYWOOD?  

Evidently, these records were wildly popular - they still turn up regularly - if only for the thrill of hearing someone say "Hell" or "Damn" or "Sonuvabitch" or hinting that SEX might be in the offing, on an actual RECORD! In 1936, what with the Hays Code and the Catholic Legion of Decency decreeing that onscreen married couples had to sleep in separate twin beds, THAT was a real thrill.      

On  side A, it's "BUGGS" WILSON with his magnum opus, "COUSIN DIPPER LIP."  Mr. Wilson cooly impersonates radio's BOB BURNS, telling one of his tall tales about his moronic but well-endowed cousin.  

The B side features a team called "RUFF AND READY" performing "TOM AND JERRY IN HONOLULU."  It's a sketch about a couple of randy Marines on shore leave, making "Wiki Wiki" with a couple of wild Wahinies (played by two anonymous and pliant young women)! It's a very radiophonic sketch with sound effects. I'll let you savor this sordid scene on your own.  (n.b., interesting, those names! Animation historians take note!)

This original 1936 Hollywood Hot Shots 387 is in E condition. An inaudible pressure / hair crack extends from rim to label.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care.
