Counting Crows : August And Everything After 1A1 / 1B1 1st Press Europe 1993

This very collectable first pressing from 1993 plays with stunning quality on both sides with hardly any intrusion.  Arguably you could say there is no intrusion at all - there are no clicks or pops and only a minimal amount of very light static for a few seconds on 3/4 tracks that has no impact on the overall listen.  The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is incredible and you would be hard pressed to find a 'cleaner' version.  The classic 'Mr. Jones' plays with pristine audio i.e. it could not play any better.

The cover is in excellent shape with only light wear and the lyric inner has been very well preserved with no side splits etc.

This first pressing was pressed in Holland and is credited as a European pressing.  There was no UK pressing.

Visual description

The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy sheen with no actual scratches.  I can see one, what I like to call hairline scratch, on S1 but it has no affect on the superb audio.  Aside from that there are just some of the usual faint hairlines that you can only detect when looking under a bright light.  The labels are more or less perfect with barely any spindle wear.

Play grading

'Round Here' has only the lightest of background static on the intro and Duritz's opening vocal section then plays with great clarity and no intrusion.  The first chorus is just as strong and thereafter plays with stunning quality.  There are no ticks, clicks or pops and the only background is a touch of very light static during the It's only in my head verse and right at the end.  They are quiet passages and and this static is so minimal and does not get in the way of the audio.  This is still a Near Mint- start to this classic album.

The intro on 'Omaha' has barely any static and the opening vocal / chorus is perfect.  This clarity of sound is kept up throughout and again there is nothing to detract from the playback.  A superb Near Mint version.

The classic 'Mr. Jones' plays with exceptional quality through every section.  From the intro, the first verse and chorus the sonic quality is superb and as it continues there is no drop in quality.  The fade out has only minimal light static and that is the only background across the entire track.  A STUNNING version and Mint- is well deserved.  Pass me the bottle indeed!

'Perfect Blue Buildings' keeps up this fine standard which is impressive for a relatively quiet track.  There is the odd minor static but in no way intrusive.  They are so so quiet and can hardly be classed as background really.  The quiet end vocal is a prime example of the clarity on offer here, so clean and precise.  Near Mint

The percussive intro on 'Anna Begins' is faultless and the opening vocal has just one very quiet static tick.  From then on it plays with sublime clarity and warmth.  Once more the audio is so impressive and in essence there is no interference.  A little light static at the very end and Near Mint is again a fair assessment of the audio.

'Time And Time Again' has just a little more static on the intro but is still quiet.  The first part of opening vocal is similar and the first chorus then plays perfectly.  The next quiet vocal has barely any static and the more powerful mid section is stunning.  It continues to play with impeccable quality and again from start to finish there are no clicks or pops.  I will grade the opening section as Ex+ but the remainder is Near Mint at the very least.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Rain King' plays with phenomenal audio with no sign of any interference.  It is so clean and clinical with genuine crystal clear audio.  Ok a couple of statics on the fade out but you get what I mean.  It has a CD like aesthetic quality but with the warmth and depth you only find on vinyl.  Let's say Mint-

The acoustic intro on 'Sullivan Street' plays beautifully with only a couple of minor dust ticks and the opening vocal section is equal to that.  Incredible clarity once again!  It continues to play so clearly with no interference - a hint of light static for 2/3 seconds during the very quiet mid section but nothing else.  Near Mint

The intro and opening vocal section on 'Ghost Train' have no interference and again the clarity of sound is so impressive.  This is particularly obvious during How do you do vocal passages - so quiet and yet the clarity is stunning.  The mid instrumental is flawless and the remainder is of the same high end standard.  A Mint- version.

Another classic in 'Raining In Baltimore' and it does not disappoint.  The opening vocal section plays with great clarity and there are only a small number of very quiet static 'moments', they are totally non-intrusive.  As it progresses it gets even better!  A couple of minor statics near the end but no interference as such.  Duritz at his emotional best you could say and Near Mint- is fair.

'A Murder Of One' ends this superb debut album with superb audio from the get go.  Every vocal and instrumental section plays with a sonic quality that is second to none.  There is no inner groove distortion and it plays with great power and definition throughout.  Easily a Mint- conclusion to this classic album.

The Cover & Lyric Inner

The cover is in excellent condition with only minimal shelf wear.  The top edge has light wear by the corners and the bottom edge has only very minimal rubbing.  The spine is very clean apart from a little wear on the corners, just a bit more on the top corner.  The right hand corners are in great shape with hardly any wear and the opening edge has only a couple of minor 'nicks' / tears.  The front cover is in lovely condition with no marking and the back cover is just as impressive albeit with a little creasing / wear top right.  A very strong example overall.

The lyric inner is in great order with no side splits or tears and only a little creasing.  The picture side has just one tiny very faint mark in the top left corner.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
