MARIA CALLAS, DI STEFANO CONCERT PROGRAMME, RFH LONDON 1973

MARIA CALLAS, DI STEFANO CONCERT PROGRAMME, RFH LONDON 1973

TOGETHER WITH TWO CONTEMPORANEOUS NEWPAPERS REPORTS CONCERNING THE RETURN OF CALLAS TO LONDON AFTER AN EIGHT YEAR ABSENCE AND A £10 TICKET STUB FOR A SEAT IN THE FRONT STALLS.

A Royal Festival Hall programme for

AN EVENING WITH MARIA CALLAS AND GIUSEPPE DI STEFANO

With Ivor Newton at the Piano.

Performances given on Monday November 26th and Sunday December 2nd 1973, at the Royal Festival Hall, London

The 16 page programme is in excellent condition, has a coloured photograph of the artists on the front cover, and inside photographs and biographies of the artists and a list of the repertoire from which items would be chosen at each recital.

There is a typed sheet fitted into the programme which lists the items which were performed on Monday 26 November:

VERDI: Don Carlos Act II duet

LALO: Le Roi D'ys Vainement ma bien aime (tenor)

PONCHIELLI: La Gioconda Suidicio (soprano)

BIZET: Carmen Final Scene (duet)

VERDI: Vespri Siciliani (duet)

TOSTI: Non t'amo Piu & Marechiaire (tenor)

MASCAGNI: Cav. Voi lo Sapete (soprano)

MASCAGNI: Cav. Duet

PUCCINI: Gianni Schicchi O mio babbino caro (soprano)

This copy of the programme is in very good condition. It measures 9.75” x 7.25”. The staples show no sign of discolouration and are tight to the pages.

Interestingly, there are two London newspaper cutting (see photograph) which report on Callas returning to London. The actual paper has discoloured with time.

There is also a £10 Stalls ticket stub within the programme.

AN INTERESTING PIECE OF MUSICAL MEMORABILIA, BOTH MARIA CALLAS AND GIUSEPE DI STEFANO, FROM NEARLY 35 YEARS AGO

GENERAL THOUGHTS

I prefer payment by Paypal (quicker and safer) or by Sterling Cheque. Once payment is received/cleared, I post items within two days. I post worldwide at buyer’s expense and will use any postal service needed; expensive items must be registered/suitably insured.

On ebay I always provide and receive friendly contacts. I am proud of a 100% positive feedback rating and trust our dealings will maintain that record.
