Notes from Lost In The Flood:
33 1/3 rpm promotional single with blue labels; issued exclusively to members of Columbia/Epic Records' "Playback" subscription club for test purposes. The disc came with a "Playback" logo title sleeve. Bruce's live track (an early version of "Wild Billy's Circus Story" with partially different lyrics) was never issued commercially and is still exclusive to this EP; making it one of the most collectable Springsteen items ever. It was recorded live at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, California on May 1, 1973 as part of CBS's "A Week To Remember" concert series.

This set includes the following:
  • Playback 7" vinyl (plays with some pops, ticks, and a little crackle here and there, but plays through without any skips on both sides)
  • Playback picture sleeve
  • Playback feedback/survey card
  • Original Playback mailing envelope (addressed to an original subscriber) including inner cardstock square for stability
The only thing missing is the booklet that came inside. Still... it's not very often you find the original Playback mailing envelope and the feedback card in the wild. Here's a great chance to get a super cool Bruce rarity with some of the extras! This track has never been issued on any Bruce album, compilation or single... and has also not been issued digitally. The filmed performance can be seen in the bonus footage on the Wings For Wheels documentary DVD from 2005. A classic early performance, showcased on this Playback EP at the beginning of Bruce's recording career.
