SIGURD COCHIUS - Cochius
Dutch PROG JAZZ FUNK KILLER LP! Original Dutch private press LP on Klaverblad. Wow ..minty dream audio very hard to get album! Sleeve is NM apart from a small tear on the front. Record is MINT.
A very groovy jazzy psyched out afair with a touch of genuine avant-ness. Contains the break beat monster 'Indianenmars'.
Very obscure and extra terestial trippy dutch record from the alternative Dutch scene from holland in the 1970’s & 80’s
On this LP Cochius teams up with some young musicians, and comes up with an super freak out COCHIST JAM! Some parts are modern experimental, some parts psychedelic carpets (like the “Spider & the Bumble Bee”) and then there is the super funky “Mars of the Indians”. Very very rare, private pressing.
Bizar random blabbering (cochisms) and crazy stories. "Is this the beginning or the End? The End ? The Beginning? I want Tea!" Also reflections of Cochius reflecting on being a minister, diplomat or prme minister, realizing in the end that then he would have no time to play flute. So he sticks to the flute. Talking in a hippie idiom.
This is a project to record the street musician COCHIUS, who was then already in his sixties. In his younger years he had been a Tennis champion, and late 1960’s he changed his lifstyle and opened his house for youngsters & hippies. In the 1970’s he fought for the right to play music in the streets: the police confiscated his flutes hundredths of times, but in the end Cochius won the battle and ensured a liberal street musicians law. He was a well-known appearance in the Utrecht where he used to play in fron of the Library on the Oude gracht. He developed the so-called “COCHISM” a mix of flute melodies & weirded out poems.
