Description
You are bidding on an original, rare, vintage, jazz LP record album, from 1956, entitled, "Clifford Brown Memorial Album", on the Prestige record label # BLP 1526. This is the original pressing with the deep groove on both label sides and the address, "167 LEXINGTON AVE NYC", also on both label sides. Side 1 label is in excellent condition. The Side 2 label has green crayon written and some wear (see photo) and some scratches. Side 1 vinyl is in very good plus condition and would rate better were it not for two instances of two moderate spots of scuffing and a short, moderate scratch on the first song band. (One of the scuff small areas extends partially into the second song band.) However, I played the record and these did not seem to affect sound. Side B vinyl is in fair condition due to a moderate to heavy one inch, narrow scuff through the first song band a short way into the second song band. There is a three-inch moderate to have scratch that is on the inner three song bands and extends into the trail off and onto the label. There are some other light and moderate thin scuff/scratches. I also played this side through and it sounded good. Besides these, the rest of the vinyl is nice. The mirror-like vinyl gloss on both sides is tremendous. The front side of the jacket is in very good condition with some light ring wear at the top. The jacket, overall, is in good plus condition due to edge and corner wear. The bottom edge is split 2/3 the way across from the right hand corner. There is some edge fraying. The back side cover of the album is nice with only some very light soiling of the white back ground. There is a small gouge-tear on the liner note paper on the right edge toward the bottom. Please see the detailed photos. This would be a good album to have until you could upgrade which might be never due to its rarity. Playing on the LP were: Clifford Brown-trumpet; Gigi Gryce-alto sax and flute; Charlie Rouse-tenor sax; John Lewis-piano; Percy Heath-bass; Art Blakey-drums; Lou Donaldson-alto sax; Elmo Hope-piano; Percy Heath-bass; and "Philly" Joe Jones-drums. The sessions featured on the record were recorded in 1953. This is a 3-day, no reserve sale.
