This record is pure Bebop, as I write this I can hardly sit still because its playin in the background. What a line-up. Not only do you have maybe the greatest trumpeteer ever, in his prime. You have Bebop Revolutionary, Max Roach who would go on to put out his first 10" later that year with the great Hank Mobley. Brown, and up and coming Richie Powell left this world in an auto accident. Brown was 25. He is considered an Immortal in the world of Hard Bop. This record was cut two years before his untimely death, not years after like all the memorial albums. I do not have a Jazz EP book, but this one has been in my collection for some time. I know its rare. I have never seen another one. All Browns Lps from around the same years book for over $100. Make me glad I decided to part with this!
EP Cover Grades - Near Mint Beautiful (does have a 1.49 cents pencil mark on the back top left corner) Does not detract from the looks.
Label Grades - Deep Blue w Silver writing (drummer) Emarcy -NM (Superb)
Record Grades - VG + Plays Great ( Could Use a Good VPI cleaning). There is only a few visible scratches (that is using a lamp with a 100 watt bulb), and it is surface. Not deep enough too affect play. One passage in side two has about a 5 second noise that is probably just dust from years of sitting on the shelf. I do not see any deep scratching or factory bubbles that would cause this. I grade to the Goldmine and Osbourne standard. The only reason I grade this VG+ and not NM is because of the scratches. I do not want to dissapoint. Superb record for 50 plus years old. Serious collector will not be dissapointed.
