Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. COLLECTION COPY! Original 1972 first pressing vinyl of the sought after (and rightly so) third album by Help Yourself, called "Beware Of The Shadow" who combined West Coast acid-flash electric guitar with a gentle, breezy folkrock hippie style... There's no question that Help Yourself's "Beware Of The Shadow" was a product of its times -- something about the whole easygoing West Coast rock and gentle psych-inspired trippiness, the way of singing, the production, and more, just screams early-'70's non-heavy rock and non-glam rock & roll. Look at it one way that Help Yourself was an English hippie band with high quality American West Coast sounds, heard with fresh ears years after its release, it strikes a great balance between entertaining the crowd and exploration. Call the band a more down-to-earth Pink Floyd or Hawkwind set somewhere in the American Northern California without specifically owing anything to either band. Guitarist Malcom Morley, who takes vocal lead throughout, shows a fine voice similar to Neil Young's, with just that hint of twang while not sounding quite so cracked and strained. At some points the resemblance is overwhelming -- check out the chorus of the wistful "Old Man" (in fact not a cover of Young's own standard, though that would have been perfectly appropriate). As a unit, the four-piece, which finished up the album in a week's time, comes across as seasoned without being overly pro or polished...'Beware The Shadow' marked something of a new direction for Help Yourself. On Help Yourself's third album, the band kept on exploring its quietly entertaining fusion between the trippier and rootsier sides of its personality, a bar band for those who liked to spend their days baking in the sun. The most affecting song is the closer, the beautiful "Passing Through," a gentle acoustic ballad that has the same regret-tinged melancholy of prime Nick Drake but, thanks to the higher singing register, comes across as a quiet anthem, well worth the hearing. Reverting to four musicians (Morley, Treece, Charles and Burton), the only extra addition was the ubiquitous Sean Tyla who collaborated on the superb, West Coast acid-tinged 'American Mother.' Other songs include a near-perfect memorable melodic rock song called 'She's My Girl' which would have made a killer single, and on the other side of the coin the amazing 'Reaffirmation' which takes up most of Side One, a piece which chugs along at a gentle pace with Morley's pseudo-American accent more pronounced than ever until suddenly the twin guitars wind up into one of the most melodic frenzies ever set into wax. Dave Charles' machine-gun precise drumming is as neat as ever throughout, and Paul Burton's bass achieves its finest and final moments... "Reaffirmation" conjures up broad vistas and adds mellotron to the other keyboards and guitars. Starting with an ironic vocal line and soft keyboard and guitar accompaniment, this track soars into a warm ethereal guitar-filled golden Western sky and everything settles into a fine space rock chug into the infinite -- the result is groovy fun, man... "American Woman" is another stand-out track that takes a more self-consciously epic stance from the start and gets away with it beautifully, with opening guitar that can only be described as heroic and an overall flow that sounds perfect for an easygoing drive down desert highways while chasing the sun. CONDITION: The cover:Solid and colorful, rated: "EX" (excellent) has NO cut corner delete which is nearly pretty much never seen (without cut-out deletion) to cover ...however does have a small hard to notice circle drill = product of being a promo and the answer as to why it didn't get the cut corner per about nearly every copy made. Still retains the fresh original colors, no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... a 'special' collection worthy rarity ...
The vinyl: Clean and glossy over both sides, rated: near M- plays very enjoyable without any problems ... both U.A. labels are clean
