We make every effort to mail all orders out Friday of each week.  Keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two at most.   We also strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable.

TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS:  We often get requests to hold orders to save on shipping.  We are happy to do that.  Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and IF YOU REQUEST we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel.   To receive continual shipping discounts, we will hold your orders as long as you want, but it is necessary to pay each invoice you receive to stay current.   Most importantly, we appreciate your business.

           CLEAN 1965 ORIGINAL 2nd LP

                GIRL GROUP CLASSIC

        THE SHANGRI-LAS

                '65

                           USA - RED BIRD - RB 20-104

Along with the Shirelles and the Ronettes, the Shangri-Las were the greatest girl group in the '60s, most often remembered for their 1964 number one hit "Leader of the Pack," a death-rock classic with its periodic motorcycle roars and crescendo of crashing glass...

Of all the Girl Groups the 60’s had to offer, The Shangri-Las have to be in the top 5.  Just the fact that they were so eager to runaway with a biker or street kid gets my vote for the top of that list.  And unlike other Girl Groups in their time, The Shangri-Las wouldn’t have been caught dead wearing matching dresses.  Leather trousers were the words in this gang.

Second and last album from the girls and it's a great one. The Shangri-La's brilliance lies in the sheer depth of emotion their over-dramatised records stir. In general, '65 is more musically diverse than the debut, and the girls sing wonderfully. The material is  wonderful too: the white girl soul of "Right Now and Not Later", the ode to nightclubs and martinis that is "Sophisticated Boom Boom", the classic girl group sounds of "Out in the Streets" and "The Train From Kansas City". And the peak is "Give Us Your Blessings", another "I bet my parents will regret they never approved of my boyfriend now we're both dead!" hit that easily matches "Leader of the Pack", if not "I Can Never Go Home Any More".

‘Shangri-Las ‘65’ is a fun rocking party album.  It sounds like a hybrid of the Ronnettes being backed by The Chocolate Watchband.  The material was written by some of the top songsters of the ‘60’s.  Barry/Greenwich supplied no less than five compositions.  Is ‘Shangri-Las ‘65’ essential?  Not if you call sitting around some sausage factory playing video games and listening to ‘Blonde On Blonde’ for the eighth billion time while rolling up dry banana peels just to see if you can really get high.
