1970 Clandisc (Trojan) TBL 124 UK LP 'Herbsman Reggae'. Has the original and intact '19/11' price sticker for a retained period touch.
Typical Trojan sleeve with the laminated front and (good) spine and plain albeit grubby rear. No rips, tears, writing or other price sticker blemishes. The edges are ok and the mouth isn't too bad. It does have some laminate creasing, corner rubs and ringwear so let's say 6 /10 for condition.
The disc reads 130g on the scale so is of a medium weight. I'm looking for spindle 'snail' traces on the clean paper labels at the sharp holes for signs of the extent of play but I can't see much evidence. I reckon it's only had a handful of spins at most.
The machine inscribed matrix numbers etc. at the dead-wax run-offs are TBL 124 A 1 & TBL 124 B 1.
The disc is bright with maybe a hint of dishing when viewed edge on but hardly worth mentioning. In room daylight at the window it looks clean yet under a searching light I see light scuffs and hairlines so visually under this remit I rate it 6.5 /10.
Now for the usual play test on my Linn / Naim hi-fi system......
Overall it plays well and 'quiet' yet with some clicks evident on certain tracks and passages. For play audio quality therefore I'm opting for a conservative 7.5 /10.
It's a 99p start and the auction will run to the end as always. Should you think my judgements are suspect then no problem to return of course.
