Original 1994 UK pressing glossy cover hard to find vinyl pressing of their 1994 album by the New Zealand Flying Nun records label with one sided orange custom insert (FN300).

AMG REVIEW: Chug makes perfectly representative music for Flying Nun's second decade -- if nothing is as suddenly new or different as earlier reinventions of emotional, powerful rock, both the label and many of its newer bands still deliver the goods. Alf Danielson's fuzz bass may kick things off, but it's guitarist/keyboardist Norma O'Malley who gets the first words in on "Evel Knievel," a nicely angular piece of wigginess that sets the tone of Sassafras. Chug clearly sound like a product of their environment, fusing both catchy, almost power pop hooks (at least at times) with all sorts of frazzled guitar and musical crashes & changes, not to mention occasional blended harmonies. There's the rough accessibility of bands like the Jean Paul Sartre Experience or the 3Ds on the one hand, and the hints of crazed guitar madness from the Xpressway bunch on the other. Even "Golden Mile," with what sounds initially like a motorik groove a la Stereolab, has a stronger sonic connection with Snapper. Other bands are clearly in the sonic stew as well -- Sonic Youth squalls crop up more than once -- yet while Chug might not immediately stand out, they bring a good energy to what they do, and are able to put their own stamp on things well throughout. Danielson and O'Malley make for a good vocal team and each can hold their own individually -- and while Danielson sometimes buries his vocals, when speaking up he has some nicely winsome tones. O'Malley is clearer in contrast, sounding perhaps a touch more engaged as a result, while her organ work adds a lovely swathe of warm sound to the proceedings. Highlights include the attractive psych-tinged "Long Haul," with O'Malley contributing some very Doors-like keyboards; the stomping, very heavy "Witches"; and the great, feedback-laden groove of "Mustang."

CONDITION: The record is in near mint condition & the cover is excellent with light wear on the upper left corner tip & about a 3" crease near the bottom right corner.

LP SHIPPING + PACKING & VARIOUS INFO:
I use real coated cardboard LP mailers when I ship vinyl & these are very durable. I usually take the records with the inner sleeves out of the covers (unless factory sealed of course) so they don't split the seams of the cover in shipment. Then I put them in a 2 or 3 mil plastic sleeve & then wrap a plastic bag or two around them to keep them from flopping around in the mailer, this method seems to work best since it adds air & almost works like bubble wrap (keeps the LP's usually under a pound & saves a lot on shipping rates worldwide compared to using cardboard inserts), breakage rate has been way less than 1 in 1000 using this method, if I added cardboard it also would make the weight of it more prone to the corners getting dented in transit if dropped. 10" records & 12" singles count as 1 LP for shipping, single laserdiscs count as 2 LP's for shipping (& I pack 2+ records differently & I have oversized boxes for larger packages...don't worry I've been sending out stuff about 5 days a week for over 20 years now & know exactly what I'm doing over here). I also add plain white inner sleeves so custom innersleeves don't get spit in shipping also (if either company or specialty sleeves came with the record).

All records are BLACK VINYL unless noted & inserts/gatefold covers/posters/custom inner sleeves will be noted in the description if they are included plus promo & cutout marks stated if they are there also. I don't believe in hiding stuff & try to note most everything that should matter to buyers. All 12" vinyl on ebay is automatically listed as 33 1/3 rpm & 7" vinyl as 45 rpm (to save time on listing all this stuff) if you need to confirm speed on a specific item please ask & I can go check.

I tend to run a lot of the same bands/type of music at the same time. Most cleared payments go out within 24 hours. I'm working by myself here so you are only communicating with me & not a bunch of people & I'm at my computer several times a day & rarely miss a day checking emails. So expect quality hands on service. Everything you see on auction & in my store is (physically) here with me (& no middleman shipping ever!).
Most my items I list go on auction first & then if they don't sell to my store within a few days after the auction ends (for usually more than my minimum bid so watch my auctions to get the best prices on most of the items). I try to keep 25-100 auctions going at all times there are well over 3000 items in my ebay store now. I very much welcome my foreign customers, a full 1/2 or more of all my ebay sales go overseas now so I've become quite used to dealing with overseas buyers.
