Description

  • Label: Chess  *original black label version with Side 1 & Side 2 to the left of the spindle hole, and the printed matrix to the right [Printed matrix side A/B: U-10648 & U-10649] 
  • Catalog #: LP-1456
  • Track Listing: see photos 
  • Vinyl: VG+  play grade  *vinyl shows some light spindle marks that created minor background noise on several tracks, but never overpowering and many tracks play excellent; I did note that spindle hole was tight although not sure what that signifies; condition of labels are as seen in photos
  • Cover: EX *very nice jacket with light corner ding and a small crease wrinkle (by Chuck's front pants pocket);  back displays some light glue staining under slick; all seams are solid with nice spine seam lettering; original Chess Records inner sleeve included
  • Notes: Chuck Berry's fifth Chess Records album includes the single "I'm Talking About You," later successfully recorded by the Rolling Stones.   Personnel include Chuck Berry – guitar, vocals; Fred Below – drums; Reggie Boyd – bass; Leroy C. Davis – tenor saxophone; Johnnie Johnson – piano; Jaspar Thomas – drums 

                                                                                GRADING STANDARDS: 

Mint (M): A Mint record and cover must both appear to be absolutely perfect in every way. For this reason the grade is seldom used, even with sealed albums where the record itself can only be assumed to be mint.
Near Mint (NM): Otherwise Mint, a nearly perfect record will have only one or two tiny, inconsequential flaws that do not affect play. The disc is shiny and will play without any surface noise. Covers should still be close to perfect with minor signs of wear or age just becoming evident.
Excellent (EX): An excellent record or jacket will have a minimum of audible or visual imperfections. The record has been handled and played very carefully. The disc may have light paper scuffs or spindle marks that do not affect the listening experience.  Covers will show only minor signs of wear or age, and may have a cutout marking and some slight signs of handling or wear, including a tiny bit of ring wear.
Very Good Plus (VG+): The vinyl is considered a good playable copy that may display more signs of wear than an EX grade, but one's overall listening experience will still be positive. Jackets may also display more signs of light storage wear or aging, but not affect the beauty of the artwork.
Very Good (VG): Many of the defects seen in a VG+ record or jacket will be more pronounced on a VG album. The vinyl will display visible signs of handling and playing, and looks like it will play with some audible surface noise, although any such noise should not overwhelm the musical experience. Jackets may display a variety of problems, although none of the flaws should be overwhelming, and limited to no more than a couple. 
Good (G): A record in good condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without any repeating "skips", although it will have more severe audible surface noise and scratches than a VG record. Jackets will also have even more pronounced defects than a VG cover. This grade is usually reserved for rarer records that are difficult to find.

  • All records are sleeved in a new paper sleeve, removed from jacket to prevent any seam splitting, and then shipped inside a poly album sleeve.

  • All international orders shipped via USPS First Class International mail are automatically covered by ShipSaver Insurance. You will receive an insurance confirmation email at time of shipment.
