Description
This is a very reasonably priced RARE ORIGINAL 1959 CHESS RECORDS U.S. MONO LP titled 'Chuck Berry Is On Top' from the legendary rock-n-roll pioneer Chuck Berry. It is Chess Records catalog number LP-1435, heavy rigid vinyl deep groove pressing, black Chess labels with silver print. This iconic first issue album was ONLY released in the USA and was NOT available/distributed on the London American label in the UK. I bought it in 1962 from a records import shop in London. The album comprises Chuck Berry's studio recordings of his Chess singles releases made from 1955 (Maybelline - his first recording for Chess) through to 1958 (Johnny B Goode and Little Queenie). A pressing of this same album was sold on eBay auction in the USA for £41 ($69) 4 weeks ago on April 4th 2014 - I believe my record offered here is in better condition than that as described for that earlier sale. It is a good value collectors' item!
