Psychedelic, progressive, avant-garde, noisy, unhinged, hallucinogenic are all adjectives that do their utmost to describe the seminal sophomore effort from San Francisco experimentalists, Chrome; though most fail to scratch the surface of the dizzying nature of Alien Soundtracks. Originally released in 1977 (the year that punk died), and the first project to enlist long-time member, Helios Creed; the lo-fi, industrial-tinged psych-punk noise-rock compositions on display throughout, were leaps and bounds ahead of any would-be contemporaries, and still manage to shock, awe and challenge more than four decades on.
