CHICAGO WEST SIDE SOUL & BLUES LP: LITTLE JOHNNY CHRISTIAN – Somebody Call My Baby.
Nice LP by Little Johnny Christian, one of Chicago's best singers and most popular acts with West Side audiences during the 1980s. This LP includes Christian originals and covers of Otis Clay, Magic Sam, Tyrone Davis and McKinley Mitchell songs. Tracks: All Because Of Your Love, I Want To Know, End Of The Rainbow, All Because Of Your Love (Inst.), Turn In Point [sic], Somebody Call My Baby, All Of Your Love, Turn In Point (Instr.), Big Boy Records BB 1935. (This was DJ Big Bill Collins' label.) Record is VG+ with only minor wear. Front of jacket is VG+, back VG with some wrinkling, a small paper tear and a few small dark spots; corner wear.
LPs and 45s are graded M (mint), NM (near mint), VG+, VG (very good), VG-, G+, G (good), G-, F (fair), and P (poor). A VG+ record may have some visible scuffs and light scratches and plays well with little surface noise. Scratches on records graded VG, VG-, and below are deep enough to feel with your fingernail, or there may be scratches throughout that cause surface noise. On records in the G+, G and G- range the level of the music is still above the surface noise caused by scuffs and scratches. Surface noise is as loud as the music on records graded F and louder than the music on P records.
Jackets graded VG+ have only slight wear; jackets graded VG are more worn but still intact unless defects are noted. G jackets show definite damage and F and P jackets are probably falling apart. Splits, markings, cut corners, and other defects will be noted.
