Australian punk rock rarely gets more direct that the Chats, the Queensland outfit marrying razor sharp observations about life in Australia, the country's culture, misgivings and shortcomings, with high speed, intense instrumentals that share more in common with the genre's original blueprints than any of the offshoots that have emerged since its early days.

Get Fucked, the group's second studio album, is a great case in point. Combining a relentless stream of anecdotes and musings that will resonate with every Aussie, and anyone who has ever spent time in the country, it deals with everything from racism within surf culture to global inflation, all alongside a soundtrack that feels borderline unhinged. Punk as it really should be, then: poignant, knockout punchy, and completely uncompromising in its singular vision. Excellent stuff.
