CHARLES Mingus at the Bohemia MAX ROACH Debut 123 - 1955 first pressing rare.
This is an opportunity to get an original first pressing copy of this very scarce Mingus album, which was released on Debut in the 1950's. Debut was a label owned by Mingus and Max Roach and a pioneering example of an artist owned record label.
The record cover is in quite nice shape and at least VG condition, close to VG+. The vinyl is in poor shape with a lot of wear and many scuff marks. These records were pressed on very brittle shellac and are notorious for not holding up well. The labels are also bubbling and starting to come away from the record in parts which is another commonly found issue with these early Debut pressings.
From a visual inspection I would rate the record as poor condition, I haven't played this and bought it as it such a scarce album to find with a view to upgrading in the future. Unfortunately, my collecting habits need to change and I have to downsize my collection so I am reluctantly parting with this and a number of other gems so please check out my other listings.
It could be years before you see another copy of this record, don't let it get away!
