LADY PENELOPE & PARKER – The Stately Home Robberies ORIG Century 21 MINI-ALBUM / MA 110 (UK, Mono, 1966)
Happy to offer surely one of the very best looked after copies of any C21 mini-album you will ever see. I tried collecting the full set of these great 1960’s EPs and this one was the top of the pile when it came to simply breathtaking condition. If you are a collector of this series and look for only close to mint copies, then this one will surely please.
The front-laminated flipback sleeve is just in a jaw-dropping state for a record now 46 years old. As C21 collectors know only too well, these records were originally bought for and played mainly by children. The result being they invariably ended up battered and heavily marked with the sleeve suffering from plenty handling, creasing even defacement, tears and splits. NOT HERE! This sleeve has NO creasing whatsoever. It has NO edge or corner wear, NO scrapes, tears or writing. The opening edges are still sharp, the back panel is pretty much unblemished and there is NO ring impression to speak of. The front laminate is simply superb and will not be bettered at this late stage. I don’t give a full Mint grade for used records but if I did, this would be it. So it grades an incredible, really lovely M- (Mint Minus).
The pale blue C21 labels are as you would expect bringing this record home from the shop in 1966. Lovely, full colour, no writing, no scrapes, residue or other damage. Spindle evidence is next to nothing. Incredible pair of these vintage labels!
The vinyl is also in a M- (Mint Minus) condition. The usual manifold scratches, scuffs and hairlines are conspicuous by their absence – there is just ONE faint nick to the beginning of one side (if you look very closely). Otherwise the surfaces of this disc are totally unmarked with no nasty embedded dirt and close to full shine retained after all these years. A lovely looking record! IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays with virtual CD silence. This is virtually unheard of for these 1960’s children’s records. Even if they were relatively well looked after, they still picked up audible snap, crackle or pop – as the grooves, cut at 33rpm were so tightly packed. Not here again – a fabulous listen with no pops, distortion or loss of clarity/lack of definition maybe a touch of underlying surface static only to Side 2. Superb!
A tip-top example of this 45 year old disc and sleeve. Rare in any condition but in this near to factory fresh state you may not get the chance again.

I do not use any more than ONE plus or minus between grades. After all, WHAT ON EARTH DOES VG+++++ MEAN? What is NM+? Or EX---? These are just some of the ridiculous gradings I’ve encountered on eBay. I am very careful using the EX (Excellent) grade. Excellent, by dictionary definition means‘extremely good’ NOT ‘marked and slightly beat up with wear’!
