CEDAR WALTON – Spectrum (1968) Prestige-7591 – EX/M- (cover/vinyl)

His debut for the label and it’s hard bop / soul-jazz / and modal jazz. Cedar was a great player, but you primarily see him as a sideman – not the leader. Just look at the line up for this one – Cedar on piano joined by Blue Mitchell on trumpet, Clifford Jordan on tenor sax, Richard Davis on bass and Jack DeJohnette on drums. Wow.

This is a beautiful copy. It is an original dark blue label pressing with the silver trident logo in a circle at the top of the label. The cover is crisp and tight with no wear. It has a small name written on the back cover and one tiny white on white tear on the front that is barely noticeable (I almost missed it). The vinyl is clean and glossy and looks unplayed. I grade this conservatively: EX/M- (cover/vinyl).
