THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY RARE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE CD4 ENTHUSIAST. This auction is for a three record set of the original RCA CD4 Technical Test Series LPs. There were many different technical test recordings available, but most were for stereo, and the few quadraphonic test recordings were often half devoted to demo material. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL RCA CD4 QUADRAPHONIC TEST SERIES used in development and calibration of the CD4 quad system. This set appears to be in perfect condition. I don't see any scratches or scuffs and, it being a test set, has had very little actual usage. This three record set includes:
In-band Frequency Response
(Separate tests for Channels 1& 3 and for Channels 2&4 and for Carrier Only)
Discrete 4-Channel Demodulator Tests
(A variety of tests for each individual channel, including spot tests and frequency response)
(Also left combined, right combined, sum only, and carrier only tests)
Left Channel Glide Tone 45 kHz to 10 kHz
(Track is repeated at three different recording diameters)
Right Channel Glide Tone 45 kHz to 10 kHz
(Track is repeated at three different recording diameters)
As far as I know, this set of recordings was only available to CD4 equipment developers and may not ever have been available on the consumer market. That makes it a very rare tool for today's CD4 enthisiast. It also makes it just a bit unusual, in that the recordings were provided to me in plastic sleeves but did not have a cardboard jacket. I can either ship them in the original sleeves or put them in jackets from other recordings.
I am no longer set up to play quadraphonic recordings so am making my collection available at auction. I have already sold a number of vintage albums as they are retrieved from storage. These records appear to be in very good physical condition.
I sometimes get requests for Goldmine ratings. When I say an album is in very good condition this means I don't see any scratches or surface defects, so assume it is a recording that you will enjoy. Goldmine might rate it "Near Mint", but I would insist on listening to assess noise levels before making such a claim. If I see any problems I'll certainly tell you in the listing but, regrettably, I can't listen to the recording for you. Please check out my feedback and be assured you'll get an honest deal.
I prefer to ship in oversized boxes, even if it costs a little more, so I can be sure that your records arrive in good condition. Flat rate shipping is for domestic shipments only.
