CATAPILLA s/t TOP! 1971 UK Prog Psych Vertigo Swirl lp!

1971/USA/Vertigo Records VEL 1006 …..here’s a clean original pressing of this rare prog lp. The cover is in solid condition with some corner and spotty seam wear, there is shelf and ring wear top and bottom, there is a razor cut in an arch top right that goes down the right side, you can just barely see it in the close up picture I have taken, there is a light brown stain top right side on the back which may be paint, inside gatefold is nice with some foxing and a name and date lower right corner, otherwise the cover is solid and clean with no splits or delete. The vinyl is in Excellent condition with just a handful of super light inaudible hairlines and minor light storage staining from the inner sleeve. The record plays clean with light noise/crackle at cue and between tracks, otherwise the record plays clean with clean fidelity! The labels are clean with a couple of light spindle marks. The band was formed in the late 1960s in London, England. By the time of recording, original vocalist Jo Meek had been replaced by her sister Anna Meek. Alongside saxophonist Robert Calvert, the lineup was completed by drummer Malcolm Frith, bassist Dave Taylor, guitarist Graham Wilson and horn players Hugh Eaglestone and Thierry Rheinardt winds. The band was discovered and signed by Patrick Meehan, manager of Black Sabbath. Meehan produced their first, eponymous album, released on Vertigo Records in 1971. They toured following this release and, following the replacement of Eaglestone, Frith and Rheinardt by Bryan Hanson (drums), Ralph Rolinson (keyboards) and Carl Wassard (bass), they recorded their second album, Changes, released in 1972 on Vertigo. The group disbanded shortly after.

GRADING

MINT: I consider New Unplayed or Sealed items only.

M- or Mint Minus, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays very clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.

EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.

VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
