Description
CARPENTERS VERY RARE ALBUM "THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS: HOLLYWOOD BOWL 1966" 2X LP NEAR MINT CF-1533-2. Richard Carpenter put together an instrumental trio with him on piano, Karen on drums (Karen was 15 years old when The Richard Carpenter Trio was formed in 1965) and their friend Wes Jacobs on the bass and tuba. In the battle of the bands at the Hollywood Bowl in 1966, the trio won first place and landed a contract with RCA Records. The trio took 3 awards including: best combo, outstanding instrumentalist soloist (Richard), and the sweepstakes trohpy for the highest score for any act in the whole contest.
