Description

CARPENTER'S APPRENTICE Changes UK PRIVATE PRESS LP +poster PSYCH FOLK XIAN 1972

Very rare original UK private pressing LP from 1972, catalogue number SRS 12107.

Another excellent example of delicate progressive folk rock from five young British folks who share a kindred spirit with UK groups like Presence, Aslan and Sanctus. Gentle captivating mostly acoustic sound with fragile male/female harmonies, flute, soft enchanting organ, electric bass and magical acoustic leads. Top-notch original songwriting with titles like ‘Weep For The City’, ‘Let Me Come In’, ‘On The Road’, ‘How Could I Hate’, ‘Blow On Me’, ‘Joe’ and ‘Murmurings’, moods ranging from lively strummed folk (one with energetic handclaps!) to Parchment-like folk-rock to charming melancholy ballads. Also covers of ‘Very Last Day’ and ‘Day Is Done’. For a custom LP in this genre this is outstanding, with virtually no competition in sight from any bands on Dovetail, Myrrh or any other UK Christian label. Comes with a large folded lyric insert. 500 made. (Ken Scott - Archivist)

Comes in original picture sleeve, has original plain paper inner sleeve, and comes complete with foldout lyric poster.

Vinyl in very good condition. Side 1 plays with some intermittent slight background crackles, although these aren't noticeable a lot of the time, especially when the songs get going. There is a mild scuff line visible on the first track although this only causes an occasional quiet tick during this song. Side 2 is actually a bit cleaner and more like very good+ condition, with the same intermittent background crackle only appearing during the third and fourth songs, and even then it is only really noticeable in the spaces before these songs start, and the rest of the side plays well.
Sleeve in very good+ condition with a bit of very minor crinkling around the bottom right corner. There is a slight (2cm) knock near the middle of the title spine, causing the first four letters of the word 'Changes' in the title lettering to appear slightly squashed. Otherwise looks decent with just a small amount of light shelf-wear/discolouring.
Poster in very good+ condition with just a bit of light crinkling and some light discolouring along one of the folds.
