Before psychedelia swallowed the decade whole, Carl 'Sherlock' Holmes was already plotting his own investigation. Cut at Sigma Sound and issued on Curtis R. Staten's CRS imprint, Investigation No.1 is a lost Philadelphia treasure that is now revived in full. 'Black Bag' and 'Get Down Philly Town' snap with tight funk breaks, while 'Modesa' slips into Latin shuffle. Elsewhere, 'Think It Over' and 'Your Game' reveal a softer touch, all shaped by Len Woods' sharp songwriting.
