For CARCASS, ''Heartwork'' marked 1993 the final departure from the former crushing grindcore of the early days. The titletrack itself is of course a hymn for the ages, probably everyone who has dealt with the work of CARCASS knows that anyway. There are only a few bands that could set such milestones in the metal scene. Then there are even fewer bands that have succeeded twice. And CARCASS can be counted among the absolutely exceptional bands who have succeeded in this three times. First the English defined the new standard of heaviness not only musically with their first two albums ''Reek Of Putrefication'' and ''Symphonies Of Sickness'' at the end of the 80s, because the lyrics were more coarse than anything that could be heard before. With ''Heartwork'' an album that still leaves traces in Death Metal today. It doesn't really matter whether you give more importance to the earlier grind phase of the band or to the times of ''Heartwork''. The former gore pathologists showed emphatically what great musicians they actually are. Here as a new edition, pressed from the original tapes, on limited black vinyl with printed inner sleeve.
