Caravan : Waterloo Lily 3W / 3W 1st Press 1972
This very first pressing on the brown / white Deram label plays with STUNNING audio and no interference. As you can see from my audio grading below the sonic quality could not be any more impressive and 'as new' sums it perfectly. The clarity, depth, power and warmth of the audio is second to none and during the playback you miss nothing, each note is crystal clear. The vinyl is in pristine condition and has clearly hardly ever been played. A FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing in every way!
The gatefold cover has been so well preserved and has only very minimal shelf wear certainly nothing obvious, and the original inner is also in fantastic condition.

Visual description
The vinyl is in beautiful condition and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. Under a bright light I can only see a small number of ultra faint hairlines that obviously have no impact on the superb audio. The brown Deram labels are near perfect with only a couple of spindle traces on each side. This is one stunning vinyl!
Play grading
The intro on the title track 'Waterloo Lily' has no background and the opening vocal section is just as strong, perfect clarity and depth. The powerful mid instrumental is 'as new' and the quieter section that follows plays beautifully with just one very light dust tick. As it builds the playback is stunning and again the depth of the audio is very much in evidence here, helped considerably by Sinclair's deep bass sound. The final vocal is so clean and to the very end it plays with great quality and Mint is an easy grade to give. A superb start.
'Nothing At All' plays with incredible sonic quality from start to finish with no intrusion, it is as good as new basically no exaggeration. Again have you ever heard such a strong bass sound and so much in the forefront? It could not play any better. As the volume decreases there is no drop in quality and then the very quiet 'It's Coming Soon' plays beautifully with only a couple of insignificant dust ticks. The majority of this section is so quiet and yet the clarity is exceptional, I cannot overstate just how pristine the audio is here. The 'Nothing At All (reprise)' ends this 10+ instrumental with unbelievable quality once more. A STUNNING Mint track through every section.
'Songs And Signs' ends S1 with audio of the highest standard. The clarity, depth and warmth is phenomenal and there is not one single negative. Mint and wow what a side!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Aristocracy' continues this fine form and plays with imperious quality throughout. You would think this was pressed yesterday not 52 years ago! Each section is just so sharp and precise and you miss nothing sonically. Mint
The opening section on 'The Love In Your Eye' is flawless with only a couple of barely audible dust ticks and this 12 minute epic continues to play with a sonic quality that is STUNNING in every way. No need to name them all, every section here could not play any better and 'as new' is about the highest compliment I can pay. This is such a well produced album and when you find a first pressing that has hardly been played and so well looked after the sonic 'landscape' is greatly enhanced. The quieter 'moments' also play with sublime quality and yes I played it in full! 12+ minutes of Mint audio from start to finish. It is without doubt the most 'complete' version I have ever heard.
'The World is Yours' has only one light static on the intro and that first quiet passage plays with clinical precision i.e. no background. The first vocal section is perfect and there are only a couple of mega quiet dust ticks during the next quiet section that scarcely deserve a mention. It continues to play with astonishing clarity and definition for a final track and the long fade out has no background either. Mint is again richly deserved.
In summary this first pressing plays with sensational audio with no sign of any interference. It's not often you can say an entire album from this era plays 'as new' but we can certainly say that here. It is a FINAL UPGRADE pressing with a sonic quality that would be hard to match. I do not over-grade my items (as my feedback testifies) as it would not be in my interests (or yours!) to do so - so when I say it could not play any better I 100% mean it! This truly is audio of the highest calibre and together with a stunning cover this would grace any high end collection.
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in lovely condition and at first glance appears 'as new'. The edges and spine are stunning with no rubbing / wear and the corners are so clean with barely any wear also. The opening edges are close to perfect with only a couple of tiny crimps and both the front and back cover are pristine without any marking. I have just noticed a faint crease which extends from the ladies knee to close to the lower right corner but you only see it when you hold the cover at a certain angle. The inside of the gatefold is in great condition with only a corresponding minor crease on the left side and very minimal faint spotting along the top edges. A superb example overall.
The original inner sleeve is in superb condition with no side splits or tears and barely any creasing. It has only a couple of very small faint marks.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
