Condition of vinyl:--VG+ to VG++    The glossy vinyl is very clean. Side one looks Mint-, side 2 looks VG++, but there is a tiny (1 millimeter) scratch near the beginning of first song side B. Labels are close to perfect (side one label no spindle marks, side two label has one small, hardly visible spindle mark). No warps.

Play grade:--VG+ to VG++   The entire album sounded great and played extremely well except for 6 light clicks heard near the beginning of first song side B. No skips.

Condition of record cover:--VG+    Nice cover would be a VG++ if not for a tiny hole at the upper left corner. Very little ring wear. No tears, no seam splits. Edges are in great condition.

Notes:--From Lindsay Planer at allmusic:  "For their first album, Caravan was surprisingly strong. While steeped in the same British psychedelia that informed bands such as Love Children, Pink Floyd, and Tomorrow, Caravan relates a freedom of spirit and mischief along the lines of Giles, Giles & Fripp or Gong. The band's roots can be traced to a British blue-eyed soul combo called the Wilde Flowers. Among the luminaries to have passed through this Caravan precursor were Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers, and Hugh Hopper and Brian Hopper (pre-Soft Machine, naturally). By the spring of 1968, Caravan had settled nicely into a quartet consisting of Pye Hastings (guitar/bass/vocals), Richard Coughlan (drums), David Sinclair (organ/vocals), and Richard Sinclair (bass/guitar/vocals). Inspired by the notoriety and acclaim that Soft Machine encountered during the burgeoning days of London's underground scene, Caravan began a residency at the Middle Earth club. Additionally, the band was shopping a homemade demo tape around to local record companies. Before long, entrepreneur Tony Cox worked out a deal for them to record on the newly founded U.K. division of the Verve label. Caravan's self-titled debut is equally as inventive and infinitely more subtle than the Soft Machine's Volume One or Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Two of the album's best tunes -- the ethereal "Place of My Own" was backed with the dreamlike "Magic Man" -- were issued as the band's first single. Those tracks accurately exemplify the subtle complexities that Caravan would hone to great effect on later recordings. The same can also be said for album cuts such as "Love Song With Flute" and the extended nine-minute "Where but for Caravan Would I?" The latter title aptly exemplifies Caravan's decidedly less than turgid attitude toward themselves -- a refreshing contrast from the temperamental and serious Art School approach adopted by Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues."

All unsealed LP's are thoroughly inspected and checked for warps on a turntable. Many are then play graded. If played it will be mentioned in the description. All come with a new 3 mil poly outer sleeve for protection. All unsealed LP's also are shipped inside a new inner sleeve.

Priority mail is $7.00, and $2.00 for each additional LP purchased. Maximum of 12 LP's in one shipment.

All LP's are shipped in sturdy cardboard mailers with filler pads larger than the album cover added for protection. Record ships outside the cover to avoid seam splits.

Insurance coverage is also recommended for domestic shipments.

Grading

Mint Record : Perfect record. No marks or defects.

Mint Album cover: Perfect cover. No marks or defects.

M- or NM Record: Nearly perfect. High gloss. At most, a light scuff appears. Plays very well with no surface noise.

M- or NM Album cover: Nearly perfect with only minor signs of wear. There should be no ring wear.

VG++ Record: Very clean. Perhaps some light surface scuffs, no scratches. Should play and look very good with faint, if any, audible surface noise.

VG++ Album cover: Some minor ring wear, but otherwise the artwork should be mostly unaffected. Also, there can be some minor creases in the corners but no splits in seams.

VG+ Record: The record shows signs of use, but plays well despite quite visible surface marks and possibly some light scratches. This grading is often used for records which have not been cared for perfectly but still play well overall. A few very faint clicks may be allowed, and will be included in the description.

VG+ Album cover: May have corners that may be slightly bent, but not broken. There may be wear to the seams but no tears or holes. Perhaps some small writing. 

VG Record: Looks used, light scratches, no gouges. Still plays fairly well. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music.

VG Album cover: There may be seam splitting, but not complete separation of the sleeve panels from each other. There will be noticeable ring wear, but most of the cover should still be in good condition.
