Description
This is an exceedingly rare 1st pressing vinyl LP copy of "Lick My Decals Off Baby", by Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band, released in 1970 on the Straight record label (STS 1063). There has been a labelling error during production. Side 1 has the label from an earlier album, “Trout Mask Replica” (STS 1053) instead of the correct “Lick my Decals” side 1 label!!
I class the outer sleeve as "Excellent Minus” There is the merest hint of edge wear to the top and bottom edges and the spine is square, clean and legible with 1 or 2 tiny creases. The mouth of the sleeve is undamaged. There are some small creases around the edges of the cover to both front and back. The corners show a trace of bumping and there is only a hint of ring wear, visible under strong lighting. (see photos).
The disc itself I would class as "Excellent" as it retains its lustre and has barely 1 or 2 small visible marks.
I would grade the labels as "Excellent". There is some barely noticeable slight spindle wear and some barely visible rub marks (see photos).
The original paper sleeve I would grade as "Excellent Minus” with one corner crease and some slight discolouration but no damage.
Matrix: Side 1: “STS-1063-A1” mothers/stampers “1 over1” and “V”
Side 2: “STS-1063-B1” mothers/stampers “1 over U (unclear)” and “V”
Classifications in accordance with Record Collector Magazine's Record Collector Grading System and are possibly slightly pessimistic compared to some other sellers/collectors.

Sorry International buyers but, due to some bad experiences, I’ve had to upgrade my postage to “International Signed-for”. What can I say?
Due to the unusual nature of this album (the mis-labelling of side one and the fact that 1st press copies are generally very hard to find in this condition anyway) I’m afraid that I’m going to have to break with my normal practise and put a higher than normal start price on this sale.
I'm going to be slowly clearing out my record collection so watch out for later sales and thank you for looking.
