This is a UK 1st Press of Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart. This press is complete with the earliest A1/B1 matrix, the earliest blue plain Pye label, the plain inner sleeve and laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Patents pending flipback sleeve.
The record is in Very Good condition. The vinyl on each side has a sensational high jet black gloss, there is just one groove mark between the tracks on Side 1 and a few other little marks.The Pye labels are completely clean. The blue is extremely bold and bright and the text is sharp. There is light spindle wear. The vinyl has the original inner sleeve and is stored in a Nagaoka anti-static sleeve.
The sound quality is Very Good. The vinyl lies completely flat on the turntable and from the moment it begins it is rich and vibrant. The vinyl is a little noisy when quiet and the mark makes a hiss for a second but the audio is still exceptionally bold, clear and bright throughout.
The laminated sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. The cream is extremely bright and completely clean, the colours are vivid and the text is sharp. The whole sleeve is completely flat and uncreased and the laminate has a sensational gloss. There is a small scuff on the top edge and slight discolouration on the rear but the flipbacks are sealed and bright and the earliest pinched spine is firm with clear text.
