Produced by Captain Beefheart himself, Lick My Decals Off, Baby was a further refining and exploration of the musical ideas posited on Trout Mask Replica. As such, the imaginative fervour of Trout Mask is toned down somewhat, but in its place is an increased self-assurance; the tone of Decals is also a bit darker, examining environmental issues in some songs rather than simply concentrating on surreal wordplay. Whatever the differences, the jagged, complex rhythms and guitar interplay continue to amaze. Those wanting to dig deeper after the essential Trout Mask Replica are advised to begin doing so here.

LABELS: The labels are clean, bright, fresh and unmarked with only a few light spindles - this copy has clearly seen little play
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen and are unmarked - looks practically as-new
VINYL Audio: Outstanding audio delivery - crystal clear, rich, sharp and detailed sound (beautifully produced by Beefheart) and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing and it's always a real pleasure to return to this one) there are no scratches, no sticks or jumps, no loud clicks or pops and barely any surface noise (just a touch between a couple of the tracks - very minor and non-intrusive) and the whole LP plays beautifully throughout with superb clarity, no groove-wear, no distortion, sounds superb and is strictly graded a very strong EXCELLENT+ for audio - great copy
SLEEVE: The original matt sleeve is clean and fresh and unmarked with just a light crease on the top corner (very minor) otherwise, very little wear to speak of and all text on the spine is clear and sharp - EXCELLENT (at least)
