SELECTIONS : Madison Street Rag
Minglewood Blues
RECORD DATE : 1928

Cannon's Jug Stompers were a fairly legendary jug band who recorded some pretty down-home stuff in Memphis between 1928-1930. That's Gus Cannon on banjo, jug and vocals, joined by Noah Lewis on harmonica, and Ashley Tompson on guitar.

Their Victor recordings were in print for only a short while, and they are quite rare these days. This one’s got a pair of real classics : “Minglewood Blues” and “Madison Street Rag” are both from a session on January 30, 1928 which was their first session for Victor Records.
