Sleeve has some wear, contains original signature gold STEREO sticker

Vinyl has some hairline scratches, sounds great with little surface noise, close to EX
This is the first STEREO pressing on the Blue Note label, BST 1595.  This record has the Deep Groove on both sides, Plastylite "Ear" on both sides, and RVG Stereo stamp on both sides.

I hate lists like the Billboard Hot Hundred of best selling records. Popular records have high sales figures and that's why they seem to be so popular. But what is a good record? For me, it's a record that fascinates you more then others, with the right notes on the right place. What is the best jazz record of all times? Some say that is Miles Davis Kind of Blue; sure, a million seller jazz record. Jazz records seldon reach such high sales figures. Another one, that is high on the list, must be Cannonball Adderley's Something Else. I'm sure, it should belong to the Top Ten of Best Jazz Records.
This record, with its great Reid Miles designed cover, was recorded in the Rudy Van Gelder Studios in Hackensack N.J. on the 9th of March 1958, fifty years ago, so a very good reason to play it today.

The Julian Cannonball Adderley Quintet, featuring Cannonball Adderley on the alto saxophone, Miles Davis on trumpet, Hank Jones at the piano, Sam Jones on bass and Art Blakey on drums, recorded six tunes; five were released on the LP issue: Autumn Leaves, Love For Sale, Somethin' Else, One For Daddy-O, and Dancing In The Dark. Alison's Uncle, also titled as Bangoon, was issued later.
Cannonball Adderley, born in Tampa, Florida September 1928 and passed away August 1975, was educated as a music instructor, but had his own group. In 1955 he impressed on the alto saxophone, follower of the Charlie Parker school, and in the liner notes of the CD edition Leonard Feathers tells about Cannonball Adderley's baptism of fire in the band of Oscar Pettiford. At a concert the alto saxophone player Jerome Richardson hadn't arrived and Julian offered to take his place. To put him in his place, Oscar beat the band off with I'll Remember April at an impossible tempo, Leonard Feather writes: But Cannonball had come up in the Parker-school that knows of no tempo impossibilities. He met the challenge with a long solo that just about knocked Pettiford off the stand.
For two years Cannonball Adderley had his own quintet, featuring his brother Nat on the trumpet, but, due to financial problems and disappointing sales figures for his records, he had to break up his band and joined Miles Davis. Miles Davis introduced him to Blue Note and although it was a well selling record, with a great performance of Miles Davis of course, it would stay his one and only Blue Note record under his own name.

Grading System:
MINT - Only an unplayed or sealed record gets this grade NM (Near Mint) - Shows very little sign of play with very minimal or no scratches EX (Excellent) - Close to near mint, but with more than one or two small scratches that do not impact play VG+ (Very Good+) - Only has hairline scratches that are not obtrusive, may play with some surface noise at parts VG (Very Good) - Has multiple hairline scratches of varying sizes, possibly a feel-able scratch that would impact play if noted G+ (Good plus) - Has many scratches, including feelable ones that impact play G (Good) - Never understood why this is called "good", a record with this grade is far from it. Many feelable scratches, possibly a skip P (Poor) - I typically do not auction records in this condition
