Background -
Otto Buchner was a German violinist and teacher born (in Nuremberg) on September 10, 1924. He is well known (among aficionados) as a specialist in the solo violin sonatas by JS Bach. Buchner founded a string chamber orchestra based in Munich in 1962. He taught at the Munich Conservatory for many years too. One source states (without citing the years, so it is debatable) he was also concertmaster of the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra (associated with Carlos Kleiber for many years) as well as concertmaster of the Munich Philharmonic. His recording of Bach’s Brandenburg concertos, with the Munich Bach Soloists (founded in 1982), may well be the best of all time. Those of you who know these works or have played them know how difficult number 4 is for the solo violin. The first movement of the second Brandenburg Concerto in the set is included among the music works sent into space on the Golden Record which is attached to the space craft Voyager 1. If an extraterrestrial finds it, they might like the music and enjoy Buchner's playing although they probably won't know it's him playing - unless that information is included in the Golden Record but I don't think it is. Buchner also recorded many Bach solo works which are easily found on the internet. He played a Stradivarius violin dated 1727. Buchner died on September 28, 2008, at age 84. - Prone To Violins-

CONDITION Details:
The LP JACKET is in near mint minus overall condition! The jacket has NO seam splits, NO cutout marks and NO writing on it. The corners and seams are solid with just some light shelf wear. The colors on the jacket are sharp and clean - see our pictures with this listing as they are of the actual item offered.
The LP is in near mint minus overall condition. We found that the vinyl looked superb - there are no serious marks evident. The LP may have a light spider mark or two. Spider marks may sound on some audio systems, depending on the sensitivity of your audio gear. When play tested, it performed very well for a vintage record, with no skips, with some light noise periodically, mostly during quieter passages of the music. The LP retains much of the original gloss and sheen. It does have a bit of dust and perhaps a finger print or two on the vinyl so it should be cleaned before playing for best results. There are NO serious spindle marks on the record labels - this is a fine collector's grade copy of this LP.A Short Note About LP GRADING -
- Mint = Only used for sealed items.
- Near Mint = Virtually flawless in every way.
- Near Mint Minus = Item has some minor imperfections, some audible.
- Excellent = Item obviously played and enjoyed with some noise.
- Very Good Plus = Many more imperfections which are noticeable and obtrusive.
For best results, always properly clean your LPs before playing them.
The LP is an audiophile quality pressing (any collector of fine MFSL, half speeds, direct to discs, Japanese/UK pressings etc., can attest to the difference a quality pressing can make to an audio system).
