Group members include Maggie Delves who provides superb vocals, Pete Ryder (who was also involved in the slightly earlier and equally rare folk album by Paradise Square), as well as Paul Stockdale, Sian Harry and Barry Walton.

Comes in original card picture sleeve which has been signed on rear by Pete Ryder. Also has plain paper inner sleeve and comes complete with lyric/picture insert. This release is beautifully designed and illustrated throughout, and a real treasure!

Recorded at Fairview Music Studio, Willerby on 20th March 1976.

"Beautiful delicate British progressive folk custom featuring lovely female lead singing alternating with fragile male vocals that are imperfect yet charming. This is an exceptional record, on equal footing with classics like Presence and Caedmon. Several songs combine acoustic guitar and piano for soft melancholy moods, including ‘Just A Beginner’, ‘Better Day’, the title track, and ‘Hill Climbing For Beginners’, the latter a cover of the Water Into Wine Band song. Other selections like ‘A Song For Judas’, ‘Longer And Longer’, ‘Sand In My Shoes’ and ‘Winter Lady’ build a brisk folky sound, skillfully mixing rhythm and lead acoustic guitar. Gorgeous ethereal female vocals on ‘September Night Song’ and ‘Summer’s End’. A super rarity, too - don’t be surprised to see a four-digit price tag! The album is pretty much impossible to find, with only about 250 copies in existence!

Vinyl has only been played once or twice and looks superbly clean and shiny. Overall i would say it is in excellent condition and provides a fantastic and clear listening experience! There are some slight crackles in the run-in grooves and as the first song on each side is starting, and then just occasional minor static crackles and a couple of quiet clicks throughout (this is most likely down to the pressing rather than from play wear), but for the most part sounds beautiful and any interruptions are hardly noticeable anyway. At the very end of the second track on side 1 is a tiny mark, but this only causes three quiet clicks as the song is finishing and then just one slightly louder click as the song fades out.
Labels are perfectly clean with no writing or stickers. On side 1 i can just make out two extremely faint lines which might be spindle marks, and on side 2 there is just one although it is nearly impossible to see.
Sleeve in excellent+ condition and looks superbly tidy with hardly any wear and no creases. Corners are nicely tidy. Spines are clean and in-shape with no scuffs or splits. Opening edges are tidy and crisp. No stickers or writing (other than the autograph). There is some very faint dust speckle discolouring at the edges (mainly on the front), but this is not all that noticeable. In other words, looks fantastic!
Inner sleeve in excellent+ condition.
Insert in excellent condition with no creases. Has a bit of light/mild wear on the corners and parts of the edges, and a couple of small light dirt stains. Still well acceptable.

All in all this is a lovely copy of a lovely LP and not to be missed!!
