Description

Consolidated Talking Machine stock certificate #1 issued to and signed by E.A. Fearn as company president.  E.A. Fearn founded the company in Chicago, 1918 as a phonograph dealer and repairer. The company was also the principal jobber of Okeh records (early Chicago Jazz) and made 78 recordings at their warehouse in Chicago.  These records featured Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five or Hot Seven, and King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band. Fearn promoted these artists by holding the "Okeh Race Records Artists Night" at the Chicago Coliseum in 1923.
