Back Cover Description:
GOOD NEWS MR. PUBLIC:
Here it is; a brand-new album of heart thrilling gospel songs by the happy "Burke Family Singers" just off the press entitled On the Sunny Banks. You, and the public demand, brought about the recording of this new album by your purchase, or procuring of their last album entitled Love Is Why, which has become very popular.
You, Mr. Public, have made the "Burke Family" one of the most popular, most beloved and one of the most sought after gospel singing families in the Carolinas, and the surrounding states. This is qualified by the great demands for their personal appearances by churches, civic clubs, social groups, singing conventions, homecomings, special day singings, and from various community groups.
Realizing that it was not possible for them to meet the many special requests to appear in person, the only recourse they could pursue after proper evaluation, and close examination, was to comply with the recording of a new album which would enable all lovers of good gospel songs to enjoy, and it would be a good substitution, as they could not appear in person. You too, can also enjoy it. Take this new album, and place it upon your player, then sit down in your favorite chair, or on your couch in a comfortable position, and relax. Then open up your ears to the beautiful "heavenly vowels" of God’s Saints, which were sent directly from God to you with a special message of "comfort" and "hope."
The Burke Family is featured with regularity in their own church (The Center View Baptist Church, of Maiden, North Carolina). They love and honor with her faithfulness and loyalty. Each of the members serve as a member of the choir, or as a teacher, or a deacon, or as a member of a committee. Their lives have been committed to the Lord to be used as He so leads and directs by His Holy Spirit. Since they have discovered this great living God, and the new way of life with complete happiness which has brought about in their lives, they have anchored their faith in Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. In Him they found the right answer, and the secret to a complete and happy life which enables them to sing such beautiful gospel songs as Love Is Why and Sunny Banks. Within their hearts rings a mel-o-day. This message is certainly detected in their singing. Therefore, you can understand why they are in such great demand, for they kindle a fire within our hearts. ("And how our hearts do burn within us.")
Please allow me to introduce the happy Burke Family Singers. From left to right are: Clifford (Mgr.), Rachel, Dad, Mom, David, Bill. Seated: Ivanel, Rex, and Martha. With the family is Rex Smith, who is one of the outstanding young pianists of today. He enjoys being a part of the team.
It has certainly been a joy for me, Dr. Johnnie L. Caldwell, their pastor, to have had the privilege of writing the above introduction for their new album, On the Sunny Banks.
Sincerely, Yours and His in service,
Reverend Johnnie L. Caldwell, D.D.
