Description

Built To Spill, Ancient Melodies Of The Future

Up Records, UP 096, 2001

Auditory: NM-

Visual: NM-

Cover: VG+

I bought this copy from Reckless Records in Chicago in 2001.  I have played it 5 to 10 times a year since, but it still sounds and looks a solid NM-.  The cover has a very slight, I guess I would call it a scratch, in the front right bottom corner, only visible on close inspection.  There is also a minor crease upper left, and a very minor corner ding.  I will say the newsprint poster insert is also VG+, although it probably looks the same as the day I bought it, it’s just delicate and susceptible to creases.  There are a few pinsize holes along the bottom only, which I can’t explain, because I’m sure I have never pinned it up.  Built To Spill is probably my favorite band, and I have duplicate copies or US and EU presses of all the albums, so I’m parting with one of these.  Any questions, please ask!   And please check out my other auctions for the following:

Death Cab For Cutie, We Have The Facts And We're Voting Yes

The Decemberists, Her Majesty, 1st pressing limited edition black vinyl #218

GRADING:

Auditory Grading*

M (sealed); M- (unplayed); NM (dead quiet); NM- (surface noise in-between tracks); VG+ (surface noise in-between tracks & quiet passages); VG (surface noise in quiet/mid-range passages, occasional crackles/pops); VG- (frequent crackles/pops); G (crackles/pops throughout, as well as skips)

*As played on a Rega P1 turntable with Ortofon OMB 5E cartridge.  Personally, once a record falls to VG-, the noise is too distracting for me to enjoy the playback.

Visual Grading*

M (sealed); M- (unhandled); NM (beautiful copy, full gloss, no scuffing/marking); NM- (beautiful copy, full gloss, light scuffing); VG+ (very good copy, well-handled, scuffing); VG (very good copy, average handling wear, scuffing/marking); VG- (very good copy, poorly handled, marking/surface scratches); G (badly handled, surface and deep scratches)

* As viewed in bright natural light.  I give a separate visual grading, because in my experience records sometimes look better than they play and vice versa.

Cover Grading*

M (perfect); NM (minor corner dings); VG+ (major corner dings or minor creases); VG (major creases and/or minor marks or splits); VG- (major marks and/or splits and/or minor ringwear); G (major creases, marks, splits and/or ringwear)

* See item description for listing of all imperfections

SHIPPING

Shipping to USA only!  Records will be shipped in Diskeeper Ultimate Audiophile Inner Sleeves, outside of cover, sandwiched between cardboard.  Covers will be in Ultimate Outer 5.0 polypropylene or Climacz PVC sleeves.  Everything will be well-packed in a record mailer.  USPS Media Mail ($4) for items under $40, but over $40 I will upgrade to USPS Priority with tracking, and cover this difference myself.  If you would like USPS Priority for items under $40, just ask!  I can also add insurance upon request, just ask!  I am also happy to combine shipping for multiple items.

MY COLLECTION

I have been collecting indie records for 11 years now, in the US and the UK, so I have a lot of EU presses too.  I take very, very good care of them, cleaning them regularly and storing them vertically in high quality inners and outers.  Thus, all of them bought from new are no less than VG+.  This is the first time I have ever sold any vinyl, so I’m starting with just a few as a trial.  I aim to please, so my descriptions are very detailed!  Finally, my vinyls come from a smoke and pet-free apartment!
